JOB DESIGN

It is essential to design jobs for employees that reduce stress, enhance motivation and satisfaction and improves performance, so that the organization competes effectively in the global market place.

Approaches to Job Design

1. Job Rotation

An alternative to boredom in workplace is job rotation. It implies moving of employees from one job to another without any fundamental change in the nature of job.

2. Job Enlargement

It involves adding more task to a job. It is a horizontal expansion and increases job scope.

3. Job Enrichment

It involves a vertical expansion of a job by adding more responsibility and freedom to it. Job enrichment improves the quality of work output, motivation and satisfaction.
